GENERAL WORK-UP SCHEME OF THE PATIENT
The work-up of every “neurological patient” should start with general clinical and orthopedic examination. Some orthopedic diseases can cause signs of weakness/lameness or internal medicine diseases (mainly metabolic) can mimic central nervous system symptoms, therefore, information from these examinations are crucial in every neurological patient. The following patient evaluation scheme is suggested for every suspected neurological patient.
1. Information on signalment
2. Complete history 3. General clinical examination (if signifficant abnormalities deteted during general clinical exam than the patients problem is most probably non-neurological) 4. Orthopedical examination (if signifficant abnormalities deteted during orthopedical exam that the patients problem is most probably non-neurological) 5. Neurological examination (if neurological problems are detected neurological problem is very likely)
